How to play SlangIt!
SlangIt! is a free, browser-based word game with a modern slang twist. It plays like the crossword-style word games you already know, but with a bigger board, more tiles, and bonus multipliers for slang plays — including Gen Z and TikTok slang.
The board and tiles
- 18×18 board with premium letter and word squares.
- 120 tiles in the bag — more letters and more blanks than classic crossword-style word games.
- 8-tile rack, so you always have more room to plan a slang play.
- Your first word must cross the center star.
Scoring
Every tile has a face value. Word scores follow standard crossword-style rules:
- Double / triple letter squares multiply the letter under them.
- Double / triple word squares multiply the whole word.
- Use all 8 tiles from your rack in one turn for a bingo bonus.
- A slang play stacks a slang multiplier on top of the final word score.
Slang multipliers
Every accepted slang word flips up a definition card, so you also pick up new slang as you play. Your Slang Journal in the Stats menu collects every slang word you discover — log in and it saves to your account across devices.
Game modes

Solo vs. bots
Several AI personas at different skill levels — a fast way to learn the slang list and the 18×18 board.
Pass-and-play
Local turn-by-turn on a single device. Great for couches, road trips, and the lunch table.
Tips for new players
- Scan your rack for common slang suffixes and contractions — a short slang word with a 3× or 4× multiplier usually beats a longer vanilla word.
- The slang multiplier stacks on top of the letter / word premiums, so stacking a slang play onto a triple-word square is the fastest way to a huge turn.
- If a slang word isn't your thing, solo and pass-and-play modes let you block it from your own games via the personal blocklist.
